The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the death of a construction worker Friday at a job site on Cherry Hill Road.
The accident happened about 9 a.m., The resident trooper in Middlefield reported the incident to OSHA just before 10 a.m., said Robert W. Kowalski, director for the Bridgeport area's OSHA office.
State police identified the victim as Lamar Liddell of New Haven. He fell 12-14 feet off a staging area and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. J. Paul Vance.
Liddell was working on a residential construction site on Cherry Hill Road at the time, where Luanci Construction of North Haven is building a house, he said.
There is no criminal aspect to Liddell's death, Vance said.
Kowalski said the trooper was waiting for the medical examiner's office to arrive at the scene when he called OSHA.
OSHA sent a compliance officer to the scene to begin an investigation, Kowalski said.
